Job summary

This post is one of the Head of working capital role in our Financial Accounts Team, that play a key tactical position to support Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust to respond appropriately to a dynamic and complex financial environment. The post holder will report to a Head of Financial account, working as part of a wider dynamic team in delivering an effective working capital service supporting finances and staff across our divisions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder serves as the Trust's subject matter expert on liquidity and cash flow management.

They are responsible for overseeing all aspects of working capital on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that robust systems and controls are in place to monitor, report on, and safeguard the Trust's liquidity position. This is critical to ensuring that the Trust consistently has sufficient funding to meet its financial commitments.

The post holder manages a department covering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, and Overseas Visitors. They provide leadership in developing and enhancing systems and processes across these functions to ensure they are fit for purpose and fully compliant with Trust policies and regulations.

Outputs from this department contribute directly to the Trust's financial management reporting, including performance reporting, the Annual Accounts, and statutory and central returns.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

CCAB/CIMA Qualified Degree or equivalent experience Evidence of continued professional development specialist training in treasury management

Experience Essential

Significant management experience in the acute healthcare in a position involving responsibility for staff and setting strategic direction Experience in managing debtors and creditors to maximise the cash flow position Full understanding of the invoicing and reconciliation processes between Acute Healthcare organisations

Desirable

Contribution to financial planning, short and long term

Knowledge & Skills Essential

Expert knowledge of the full range of financial accounting processes and procedures Excellent IT skills, including ability to create comp modelling spreadsheets Able to acquire data from a number of sources interpret and present conclusions Very good oral and written communication skills Knowledge of acute healthcare finance policies guidance

Desirable

Understanding of liquidity issues attaching Foundation Trust status VAT knowledge
