QualificationsOne year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07 if applying for the GS-08; GS-08 if applying for the GS-09; GS-09 if applying for the GS-10) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-08 specialized experience is defined as: reviewing documents, applying established rules and regulations, and processing payments or collections. GS-09 specialized experience is defined as: adjudicating more complex or difficult claims that require deeper research and interpretation of regulations and identifying and analyzing issues in claim processing and suggesting solutions or alternative courses of action. GS-10 specialized experience is defined as: adjudicating debt claims; conducting fraud assessments; and preparing detailed decision and appeal correspondence. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience and education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Major DutiesThe duties, described below, represent the major duties performed at the GS-10 level. The duties performed for developmental positions will be of limited scope and complexity to develop skills, proficiency, and work experience.Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, establishes priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.Defines standards for work and prepares instructions for its accomplishment.Certifies position descriptions, develops performance plans and prepares performance appraisals.Responsible for process improvement, through ongoing analysis of customer needs to increase productivity and quality.
