The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for flexible and reliable individuals to work as Facilities Technicians (Patient Environment)

We currently have permanent vacancies, for Facilities Technicians to work as Ward Housekeepers on Wards, department areas or public spaces. Various posts are available for Monday to Friday work patterns at St James University Hospital (SJUH) or the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI)

- POST TYPE ONE: 12:00 - 18:30

- POST TYPE TWO: 12:30 - 19:00

- POST TYPE THREE: 13:00 - 19:30

- POST TYPE FOUR: 15:00 - 19:00

- POST TYPE FIVE: 14:30 - 18:30

- POST TYPE SIX: 16:00-19:00

- POST TYPE SEVEN: 17:00 - 20:00

- POST TYPE EIGHT: 07:30-14:00

Successful applicants will be invited to an interview assessment centre held on 25th July 2026.

The assessment centre will consist of an interview with set questions for the candidates around activities such as cleaning, ward food service, task prioritisation and infection prevention. Details of this can be found the attached job description.

There will also be a short interactive test where the candidate is asked to take part in a mock patient interaction relating to something likely to be within the role expectation such as asking for directions, or completing the meal food order.

A full enhanced DBS check will be required for all roles.

Main duties of the job Leeds Teaching Hospitals is one of the largest employers in Leeds, employing over 20,000 staff and providing care to 1.6 million patients every year. The Estates and Facilities team keep the Trust's sites running and manage one of the largest estate portfolios across the NHS. What you will bring to the role The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, a good team player and able to work on their own initiative and will demonstrate the Leeds Way Values, these being:-

Cleaning all areas of allocation to the required standards and using the approved and trained techniques

Complete the delivery of / support the delivery of the patient meal service

Replenishment of consumable items within area of allocation

Removal of waste materials and disposal of such in correct waste disposal streams

Operation of any cleaning equipment trained to facilitate allocated duties (ie regen oven, vacuum, floor cleaning equipment)

Able to record all information required as part of the completion of duties

Attend training sessions required to allow the completion of allocated duties
