About this role

Job summary Rotational Physiotherapist - Band 5 - 37.50/week Fixed term/Secondment 12 months The post offers a Secondment or Fixed Term 12 month contract as part of the 6 monthly rotational programme working in one of the rotational areas such as Urgent Care, Stroke, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Neuro Rehabilitation, MSK Outpatients and Intermediate Care Services in the community.

Main duties of the job

Provide a clinical physiotherapeutic service to designated wards, outpatient clinics, intermediate and community services at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. Attend relevant ward rounds/meetings such as whiteboards, and liaise with medical, paramedical, nursing, discharge and social work professionals as necessary. Act as a resource for physiotherapeutic information and advice to other professionals. Assist with training and updating healthcare professionals, regarding evidence-based therapy, including giving lectures and informal talks. Collect all data necessary to meet local information requirements and as required by the Therapy service for monitoring. Participate in quality assurance programmes, and development and maintenance of service standards, policies & procedures. Participate in personal and professional development through objective setting and regular job review. Work as a committed and effective member of the physiotherapy staff in order to maximise the potential of the service and profession. Maintain professional competence and expertise by keeping up to date with current research, working practices and models of working. Provide physiotherapy cover for other physiotherapy teams as necessary. Partake in the respiratory on call overnight and weekend service (depending on fixed term speciality location and training)

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications Essential

Degree in Physiotherapy. State Registration with the Health Professions Council.

Desirable

Approved courses, conferences or study days which support Physiotherapy knowledge and/or practice within rotational or static speciality area

Knowledge Essential

Professional knowledge acquired through relevant science-based degree Specialist knowledge across a range of physiotherapeutic procedures underpinned by theory Awareness of audit and its role in clinical practice Awareness of policies and procedures and guidelines

Desirable

Awareness of physiotherapy equipment / interventions and clinical reason(s) for use Basic understanding of NHS structures and systems Awareness of cultural diversity and equality issues

Experience Essential

Clinical physiotherapy placements in a range of specialities Working in a multi-professional environment Working in a team

Skills & Abilities Essential

Prioritising and problem solving. Positive and Pro-active approach to self-development. Competency in the assessment and treatment of a range of physiotherapy problems Willingness to partake in the respiratory weekend and evening respiratory on call service if required Ability to communicate complex information to clients, carers and other professionals in a sensitive manner using a broad range of methods Awareness of discharge to assess

Work Related Circumstances Essential

ESSENTIAL: Access to own car with a valid driver's license in order to travel across the locality of Stockport for domiciliary community working (or suitable alternative transport arrangements).
