About this role

Job summary

We are looking for new Meet & Greet Volunteers to join our team in Carlisle!

Our Meet & Greet Volunteers are based at the entrance to the Hospitals to help visitors, patients and relatives to feel welcome and to help them navigate their way around the hospital. They are also on hand to answer questions, have a chat or take belongings up to patients on wards which are closed to visitors.

To be a volunteer, you need to be over 18 years of age and living within the local Cumberland area Would you like to join our team?

This might be the role for you if:

You have the ability to communication with all groups of people Friendly, caring and approachable personality Helpful, have patience and have an accommodating manner Sensitive, compassionate and tactful nature Able to work on own or part of a team Can provide one morning or afternoon per week

Main duties of the job

Carrying bags of clothing / item to the identified ward Carrying bags of dirty clothing from the identified ward to the relative Communicating with relatives Communicating with ward staff / security staff / Mitie staff Offering advice and directions Accompanying patients and visitors to wards or departments Building up a rapport with patients and visitors Locating wheel chairs if required Befriending Patients As necessary, you may be asked to direct patients and staff to the hand sanitizers, and ask anyone who does not have a mask to use one of the masks provided by the Trust

Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.
