Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Complex Needs Team at the York and Scarborough Trust, for a Trainer delivering sessions around The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism..

The Training Facilitator will be responsible for delivering the learning disability and autism training to Trust staff and commissioned partners.You will deliver this training alongside co-expert trainers.

You will be fully supported by management during this 2 year fixed term tenure.If you are currently employed by the Trust and you wish to apply for this role on a secondment basis, please seek permission from your current line manager before applying for the post.

Main duties of the job

Role models exemplary behaviour in terms of conduct, attitude, performance, when delivering The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism and The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Trainers' Training. Demonstrates ability to effectively support and co-facilitate the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training with experts by experience. Demonstrates best practice facilitating training. Ensures all the learning outcomes are fully achieved. Recognises and addresses the needs of individuals and the group prior to, during and after the session. Appropriately challenges poor practice. Keeps up to date with current and emerging thinking in health and social care practice, learning disability and autism, laws of consent (UK), The Mental Capacity Act 2005, The Human Rights Act 1998, The Autism Act 2009, Do Not Attempt Cardiovascular Resuscitation (DNACPR) case law, LeDeR and other associated data. Identifies trends and issues, escalating and acting on these as appropriate. Proactively reflects on own practice to improve performance. Facilitate, deliver training agenda to time, trajectory and target. Support the lead trainer to ensure the program and delivery is reviewed and audited in line with local policies and national program review. Facilitate implementation of any research-based changes to national program and practice.

Person Specification

Experience and qualifications Essential

A relevant teaching qualification, Multi-professional support of learning and assessment in practice or an equivalent. Clear experience of proficient and successful delivery of face-to-face training in health and social care or similar environment. Experience delivering high quality services to people with a learning disability and autistic people in a professional role such as RNLD, OT or social worker, or can demonstrate an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience Be a qualified Train the Trainer for Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism, or willing to complete the qualification.

Essential and Desirable Essential

Knowledge of mentorship, education and development practice, to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent experience Knowledge and understanding of the learning cycle, its application and barriers to understanding. Excellent knowledge and understanding of learning disability along with current issues, trends and priorities within the social care sector including relevant legislation. Excellent knowledge and understanding of Autism along with current issues, trends and priorities within the health and social care sector including relevant legislation such as the Autism Act 2009. Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Human Rights Act 1998, The Equality Act 2010, UK legal valid consent law and DNACPR case law. Knowledge of health and social care sectors and current and emerging trends that constitute best practice in delivering health and social care support. Educated to degree level or can demonstrate equivalent experience.

Desirable

Experience of working in an acute clinical environment. OMMT Trainer Tier 1 and 2 Demonstrable experience of delivery and evaluation of training.
