Hi I'm Prit, Chief Pharmacy tech in Operations at SWBH Pharmacy.
We are looking for a proactive Procurement Pharmacy Assistant to join our friendly Procurement Team based within our brand new Stores & Distribution hub at Sheldon Block Pharmacy. This position requires a strong sense of attention to detail and ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods. The role is focused on procurement tasks that contribute towards delivery of our services across 3 of our sites: Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), Sheldon Block Pharmacy & Sandwell Health Campus.
You will be part of the Pharmacy Procurement Team where you will be supported by the Lead Pharmacy Technician in Procurement, Stores & Distribution and also Senior Pharmacy Technicians.
Pharmacy experience of working within a Pharmacy environment is essential to this role.
This role is Band 3 - subject to banding
Main duties of the job
Within this role you will be predominately based at Sheldon Block Pharmacy (located on the City Health Campus) and may be required to work at MMUH on an adhoc basis.
Main duties of this role are:
Chasing outstanding pharmaceutical orders Placing orders for pharmaceuticals adhering to national/regional contracts Updating contracts for pharmaceutical products secured by the Commercial Medicines Unit (CMU)/other relevant framework agreements onto the pharmacy computer system & Powergate Investigate stock discrepancies within the Department Assist in the event of drug recalls to quarantine affected batches and process credits from the suppliers Identify supply problems or issues regarding pharmaceutical products and resolve supply issues by purchasing alternate brands/packs where possible. Supporting the stores and distribution team when required

Key working relationships:
You will work very closely with the Senior Pharmacy Technicians within the Procurement Team as well as the Specialist Pharmacy Assistant for Stores and Distribution.
You will be in regular contact with Pharmacists and other Technicians within the Department regarding supply issues and updates.
