About this role

Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Corneal Fellow in Ophthalmology. This post based at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre offers opportunities to gain subspecialty and research experience in complex corneal and external eye disease. The fellow will work with five corneal consultants and will be exposed to tertiary level care of a wide range of medical and surgical ophthalmic cases in this busy regional eye center.

This is for 2 posts - one is a 12 month post starting in May 2026 and one is a 12 month post starting in mid September 2026.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should have completed their core curriculum and should have previous experience in corneal and external eye disease preferably as a fellow or TSC (Trainee Selected Component). Possession of CCT or equivalent is desirable. Applicants must hold registration with the General Medical Council.

The programme includes Corneal and Ocular Surface Subspecialty clinic sessions as well opportunities to attend specialist Theatres. The post is whole time and non-resident. The Corneal Fellow will be required to participate in out of hours on-call commitment.
