Job summary
Are you a compassionate, adaptable Health Care Assistant looking to make a real difference in urgent care? North Hampshire Urgent Care is expanding our team, and were looking for dedicated HCAs to support our Frimley Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) across Monday Sunday, with flexibility to pick up available shifts 10:00 to 16:00 / 16:00 to 22:00.
This role is central to delivering safe, highquality, patient centered care. Youll be the first point of contact for patients accessing our services, helping to keep our clinical areas running smoothly and ensuring patients feel supported throughout their visit.
Youll be part of a service built on the NHUC values of being Safe, Honest, Open, Effective and Supportive, with opportunities to grow your skills. While your initial focus will be covering the UTC, there may be future opportunities to train and work across our other NHUC locations.

About us
NHUC is a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society, working in partnership with the NHS. NHUC provides services through two divisions, Same Day Care (SDC) and TalkPlus.
SDC provides services through the Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) contract which covers the in Hours Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) and Out of Hours (OOH) provision for North Hampshire, North East Hampshire and Farnham (NEHF) and Surrey Heath places which are part of the Hampshire and the Isle of Wight ICB and Frimley ICB respectively. We also provide an Urgent Treatment Centre at the front door of Frimley Park Hospital whilst also holding some smaller contacts supporting Community Hospitals OOH and Flu response. Finally, SDC has a virtual care arm supporting patients at home.
TalkPlus provide NHS Talking Therapies, supporting people with common mental health problems in Northeast Hampshire and Farnham place. TalkPlus offers a range of treatments to people who are experiencing symptoms of stress, anxiety, low mood, depression, panic, phobias or OCD. TalkPlus has care pathways to provide timely treatment for perinatal and military veteran referrals.

Role Summary:
To support multidisciplinary clinical staff in delivering highquality, patient-centred care, while remaining accountable for personal actions and decisions, always operating under the supervision of a registered clinician.
The role acts as a central point of contact for patients accessing Urgent Same Day Care services across all NHUC sites.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor, observe and supervise patients within the waiting area and escalate to the registered clinician if a patient is deteriorating or there is a requirement to be seen urgently.
To work independently carrying out tasks as instructed and using his/her own initiative and seeking advice where appropriate
To provide basic physical and psychological observations for all patients, recording and documenting in the patients records. Clinical skill requirements differ between the Urgent treatment centre and the Same Day Care sites.
The post holder will be responsible for preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
Daily checks and cleaning of all equipment and ensure Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) compliance within the area in line with NHUC guidelines
Observe policy and procedures always maintaining patient confidentiality.
Observe Health and Safety policy reporting any concerns to your line manager, and through Sentinel as required by NHUC Policies.
To be aware of safeguarding the welfare of all patients using the appropriate safeguarding reporting systems.
Adhere to procedures for opening up, including collecting and returning stored equipment and closing down within the HCA role.
Ensure that the consulting rooms and clinical areas are kept in a tidy condition. Replenish supplies of any items as necessary. To ensure that all property belonging to NHUC is looked after safely and securely.
Participate as an effective member of the NHUC team, communicating professionally and effectively all necessary information to ensure the smooth running of the service.
Deal with general enquiries from other professionals and patients if appropriate.
Follow operational procedures appropriate to the clinical setting and respond to problems following NHUC guidelines and using own initiative when necessary.
Other duties as required by NHUC.
The post holder will be required to attend training and staff meetings which may take place during daytime hours and evenings, including undertaking training and refresher courses to meet the requirements of the job and participation in the Appraisal process.
Remain up to date with all statutory and mandatory training requirements, as specified within the NHUC Statutory & Mandatory policy.

Qualifications Essential
Good standard of education (Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above) or significant equivalent previous proven experience
Desirable
Care Certificate NVQ Level 3 Health Care Assistant or equivalent. Recognised chaperone Training
Experience Essential
Previous experience in a primary care or a hospital setting

Experience of using EPIC/Adastra computer systems
