Job summary

CLCH NHS Trust provides a wide range of community services across Hertfordshire. We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, multidisciplinary team in a 20-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with patients recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions.

As part of our dedicated therapy and nursing team, you will deliver specialist, evidence-based occupational therapy, contributing to patient recovery and rehabilitation. Main duties of the job

Provide specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for patients with stroke and neurological conditions. Manage a caseload of patients with complex physical, cognitive and emotional needs, facilitating positive rehabilitation outcomes and timely discharge plans. Collaborate with the wider multi-disciplinary team to develop integrated, evidence-based services. Offer guidance, advice and information to health and social care professionals, patients, carers and relatives. Supervise and support staff members and students. Contribute to a 7-day service on a rotational basis and provide support across Hertfordshire bedded units as required. What We're Looking For:

Registered Occupational Therapist with relevant experience in neurological rehabilitation. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice. Ability to manage complex caseloads with empathy and professionalism.

Person Specification

Edudcational/Qualifications Essential

Current AHP with UK HCPC registration Experience of working with neurological patients in delivery of rehabilitation packages or in a rehab setting at Band 5 level. Documented evidence of professional development and reflective practice in relevant aspects of neurological rehabilitation e.g. attendance at in-service training sessions, reflective practice

Desirable

Attendance at relevant post-graduate neurological training courses e.g. Bobath, spasticity management , splinting, cognition and perceptual assessment , fatigue management Experience of working in a neurological rehabilitation setting at band 6 level.

Experience Essential

Ability and experience of carrying out a comprehensive neurological occupational therapy assessment to formulate a comprehensive neurological treatment plan and goals. Knowledge and experience of using a wide range of therapeutic occupational therapy interventions for the treatment of patients with neurological conditions. Knowledge and experience of using a range of recognised outcome measures and goal setting skills as appropriate to the rehabilitation of patients with a range of neurological conditions. Good understanding of current NHS issues, professional standards, CPD, clinical governance. Able to work as an autonomous practitioner Able to work with individuals and groups Clinical problem solving ability Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice Understand professional ethics and their application in practice React in a flexible way to changing demands in service

Desirable

Experience of supervising and appraising other staff e.g. rehabilitation assistants Experience of supervising student occupational therapists. Experience in delivering training to other members of the MDT and care workers. Understanding of clinical governance and the implications for the service Delegated management responsibilities within service area Innovative ideas Involvement in service development

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, other health professionals, patients and their relatives/carers Ability to present information accurately, written and oral, in English Work in a team and understand team dynamics Word processing, e-mail, internet skills o Keep legible and accurate patient records in English. Clinical problem solving ability in complex cases. Ability to prioritise patient workload

Key Attributes Essential

Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
