About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an Administrator to join our friendly Genetics admin team providing support to the Genomic Medicine Service directorate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be working with a wide range of people, both internal and external to the department, and covering a variety of admin tasks. We are looking for an individual who can work independently but also be a real team player. You will possess excellent I.T. skills, be able to manage and prioritise your workload, and have a real attention to detail.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be based primarily at Birmingham Research Park, which is within walking distance of Birmingham Women's Hospital, however there is an expectation that candidates will occasionally work between the two sites.

If you are a confident user of Microsoft Office software packages and databases, have excellent verbal and written skills, and have relevant administrative experience, we'd love to hear from you.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language Medical Terminology or equivalent experience

Desirable

AMSPAR or other word processing qualification

Knowledge Essential

Working in a busy administrative role Previous administration experience Handling telephone and email queries Ability to perform to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Packages

Desirable

Experience of working in the NHS or other healthcare setting

Skills Essential

Good team working, communication and interpersonal skills Proven time management skills Excellent IT skills, including use of word, excel and patient database Understand patient confidentiality and right
