Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated clinician, with a background in complex adult care and student training, to join our dynamic Audiology Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
This full-time role is ideal for someone looking to further develop their clinical expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
You will work autonomously with a diverse range of patients, delivering high-quality assessment and rehabilitation for complex auditory needs. The role includes participation in Bone Conduction Implant services and offers a unique opportunity to work as part of our Cochlear Implant Team, providing valuable experience within a highly specialised area of audiology.
The role also has a key focus on student training placements. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical education and supporting an engaging learning environment for students.
We are looking for a clinician with experience managing complex adult patients who is keen to expand their specialist skills, passionate about delivering high-quality student training, and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively while delivering compassionate, person-centred care. Main duties of the job
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical responsibilities
* Perform all aspects of routine hearing assessment without supervision, including Puretone Audiometry and assessment of middle ear function.
* Independently select and perform complex and advanced diagnostic investigation of hearing and speech discrimination. This may include, but is not limited to;
TEN testing
Investigation of speech discrimination
Sound Field Evaluation
Oto-acoustic emissions
* Perform detailed analysis and interpretation of results. Provide reports for referrers offering full explanation of results and recommending rehabilitation
options when appropriate.
* Provide advice and diagnosis to patients with complex hearing needs, offering referral to other specialities where appropriate. Counsel patients with regard to
their hearing difficulties and guide them in making a joint decision about their individual hearing needs.
* Prescribe and fit hearing aids and bone conduction hearing implant devices to patients with complex hearing needs. This includes appropriate set-up of the device, as well as counselling on use, adaptation and expectations.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* BSc in Audiology (or equivalent depending on training route) * Registered with RCCP/HCPC/AHCS * Evidence of continuing professional development * Evidence of training in a specialist area
Desirable
* Study to a higher level e.g. MSc, Scientist Training Programme (STP), HTS module * Leadership training or qualification
Experience Essential
* At least 3 years post qualification experience in an adult setting * Experience of working with adults with complex hearing needs, including patients with severe-profound hearing loss * Knowledge of advanced methods used to evaluate hearing. * Supervision and training of students
Desirable
* Experience of working within BCHI clinics * Awareness of IQIPS * Evidence of undertaking audits and other quality assurance activities * Experience of participating in service development activities
