Job SummaryYou will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department, Nuclear Quality Division of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying practical working technical expertise in the field of Nuclear Systems including a practical knowledge of construction, application, properties, operations, limitations, processes, machinery, devices and materials associated with the systems. Experience applying extensive practical knowledge of the Naval Nuclear complex administration and technical procedures and quality controls requirements that govern all phases of nuclear reactor plant work. Experience applying comprehensive working knowledge of the shipyard's radiological controls and the shipyard Nuclear Power Manual Chapters which provide controls and guidelines for the Nuclear Quality Division. Experience exercising independent practical judgment and knowledge of the concepts, principles, techniques and practices of quality engineering or radiological engineering principles as they pertain to nuclear reactor plant systems. Experience applying knowledge of the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department or Radiological Controls Division directive and of NAVSEA policies pertinent to the work. Experience gathering, collating, evaluating and analyzing quality and performance data, develop technical reports and recommendations to resolve quality problems to eliminate the basic cause for poor quality and improve quality performance. Experience communicating orally and in writing, along with the ability to analyze the applicability of new developments and new technical approaches and procedures to nuclear and quality control requirements. Major DutiesYou will develop and implement quality control procedures and review procedures from other shipyard organizations pertaining to nuclear quality and/or radiological controls.You will review the work of engineers, technicians, scientists, radiological, production, etc. personnel in the shipyard.You will monitor the work of inspectors, radiological technicians and shop mechanics to ensure conformance with approved procedures/specifications.
