This post is a Fixed Term/ Secondment until 31/05/2027 to cover maternity leave. If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee and are applying for this post as a secondment, agreement for the secondment is needed from your current manager prior to application.
The Emergency & Urgent Care Centre (EUCC) are looking for a receptionist to join their team, to provide frontline administrative support in a busy emergency department and act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and staff to ensure the smooth running of the department. The job will require you to work shift patterns to include days, nights and weekends.
Main duties of the job
Typical responsibilities include:
Register all patients accurately on arrival. Maintain and update patient records and systems and ensure correct filing, tracking, and transfer of patient notes.
Answer telephone queries politely and efficiently.Relay appropriate information to clinical staff.Refer clinical queries to nurses where necessary.Alert the nurse-in-charge if a patient appears:Acutely unwell or In distress. Report concerns about patient wellbeing to clinicians promptly.Greet and direct patients and visitors.Provide reassurance in stressful situations.Handle complaints or sensitive queries appropriately.Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work Independently or as part of a team. Experience in admin/reception (desirable but not always essential). Fast-paced, unpredictable emergency department. Regular contact with: Patients in distress, relatives and Clinical staff (nurses and doctors).
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
