Job summary
This is a Community General Adult Consultant post with North and East Community Treatment Team. The CMHT is positioned in Secondary Care and has a pivotal role in directly delivering specialist community mental health services, but also an interface with Primary care, Specialist Services such as Perinatal Mental Health, Eating Disorders, Early Intervention in Psychosis and Rehabilitation Services and many other specialist services.
The post holder will find themselves well supported, with opportunities for ongoing professional development and collaborative working.

Main duties of the job
This is a part time working age adult substantive Consultant Psychiatrist post in the Newcastle North and East Community Treatment Team, where you will provide medical input into a Community Treatment Team working with three other consultants, specialist grade and a Nurse consultant covering the adult population in the North and East of Newcastle. The post-holder is expected to:

o To consider the individual and cultural needs of patients
o To work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient (in line with the Trust Carers' Charter).
The Community Mental Health Team provides an assessment and treatment service for people who are experiencing difficulty with their mental health based on episodic model of care. The CMHT works closely with the local Crisis Team, Liaison service and Inpatient services to ensure safe and timely transitions when required.

Qualifications and Training Essential
MBBS (or equivalent) Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 Approved Clinician Status
Desirable
MRCPsych or equivalent qualification Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field Has undergone training in educational supervision Has undergone training in appraisal
Knowledge Essential
Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation

An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience Essential
Experience of multidisciplinary team working Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings Experience of Clinical Audit
