Job summary

We are a friendly busy GP Practice who are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and sociable team player to join our dedicated reception team (Part time basis). The aim of the role is to provide an efficient and effective reception service and assist with admin duties. Previous experience of working in a General Practice and using EMIS web is preferred although training will be provided to a suitable candidate. Must be flexible to cover holidays and sickness at short notice.

Job description Job responsibilities

Shifts required - Monday to Thursday 1.30pm-6.30pm or Monday to thursday 2.30pm-6.30pm, every 3rd friday 1pm-6.30pm.

Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice

Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.

Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.

Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.

Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery (as per practice protocol).

Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.(as per visit protocol)

Action and deal with repeat prescription requests.

Enter patient information on to the computer as required.

Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately

To provide general support to the Doctors, Practice Manager and Health Professionals involving general clerical work

Input Patient Data ensuring correct read codes are used

To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.

To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.

To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.

To provide cover for members of the Reception team during periods of sickness and annual leave.

Any other duties deemed reasonable by the Partners / Practice Manager

Premises:

Open up the reception / admin areas at the start of the day when first to arrive and make all necessary preparations to receive patients. Keep all areas clean and tidy.

Ensure all confidential information / prescriptions are locked away

Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Practice manager/partners.

Experience Essential

Essential - experience of working in primary care and working with Emis Web.
