Requirements
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration experience, including Availability Groups and Replication
- Strong MySQL administration experience, including Galera Clusters
- Database design, optimisation and performance tuning experience
- Firewall, networking and VPN configuration experience
- VMware vSphere and vCenter administration experience
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Neo4J Graph Database experience (desirable)
- Cloud technology experience, particularly in security and resilience (desirable)
- Linux/Ubuntu administration experience (desirable)
- Active Directory management experience (desirable)
- Experience with VoIP, IP camera and communications systems (desirable)
- Experience with IoT technologies, including MQTT and LoRaWAN (desirable)
- Hardware support experience covering servers, desktops, laptops and mobile devices (desirable)
- Experience delivering technical training to end users with varying abilities (desirable)
Responsibilities
- Administer and performance-tune Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL environments
- Manage database replication, clustering and high-availability solutions
- Support virtualised infrastructure using VMware vSphere and vCenter
- Configure and maintain firewalls, networking and VPNs
- Monitor, test and maintain backup and disaster recovery processes
- Support internal IT infrastructure and customer-hosted environments
- Produce technical documentation and operational procedures
- Provide occasional customer-facing support and technical assistance
- Attend customer sites in the UK and overseas when required
- Maintain, optimise and support critical database and infrastructure environments to ensure high availability and performance
- Implement high-availability, replication and backup strategies for systems that operate 24/7
- Contribute to infrastructure improvements and customer projects
