Job summary

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a new consultant physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology who shares a passion for change, growth and quality improvement and who is keen to join us in our pursuit of clinical excellence combined with innovative approaches to person-centred care.

Main duties of the job

Post holder will be responsible primarily for providing acute inpatient general medical care to adults throughout the hospital and outpatient services in diabetes and endocrinology.

Job description Job responsibilities

The Department

The Diabetes and Endocrinology (D&E) team resides on Ward A5 at the hospital. The inpatient service comprises of:

18 inpatients on Ward A5 (Ward shared with Gastroenterology 15 beds)A small number of medical outliers and ward referrals

The post-holder will have responsibility for Diabetes and Endocrinology patients. Within the Division we work to our core Vision To deliver high quality, person centred care by the right people in the right place and time, delivered by an empowered, compassionate and skilled workforce within a strong Quality and Financial Governance and Assurance framework. With this in mind the approach we adopt is to run consultant led ward rounds each day where possible.

D&E is currently supported by 4 consultants working between them to provide support and consultant level decision making into the teams. There will be opportunity to assist in the development of the team and to further develop care pathways alongside clinic opportunities.

Person Specification

Clinical Skills Essential

Specific skills required to undertake the role above those required by the GMC standards Committed to continual learning

Qualifications Essential

Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC Please confirm your GMC registration number Eligible to be included on the Specialist register - CCT expected within 6 months of interview date or Evidence of CESR application submission and within 6 months of obtaining Specialist Registration via CESR MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification MRCP specialist qualification or equivalent

Education and Training Essential

Experience of and commitment to teaching, mentoring and developing undergraduates and postgraduates

Desirable

Willingness to develop new approaches to teaching Qualification in education

Experience Essential

Specific experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology Relevant experience in other medical departments

Research and Audit Essential

Evidence of audit and the implementation of change following the audit

Desirable

Relevant research published in peer review journal

Management Skills Essential

Demonstrate effective team working skills Time management and organisational ability. An example may be they have developed and run training programmes Proven knowledge of systems and process of NHS or equivalent Sense of understanding and commitment to corporate responsibility Commitment to and understanding of their responsibility to the organisation.
