The role will provide support to Chief Financial Accountant to monitor Trust's capital programme. It requires strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively across different teams. The chosen candidate will question, investigate, and ensure high financial standards whilst answering ad hoc queries from various members of finance team and operational managers. As this role requires sifting through large amount of data IT skills are essential, particular in Microsoft Excel. In addition, the post holder will contribute to reporting of the Trust level capital position, providing a great development opportunity for the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

As Capital Accountant, you will support Chief Financial Accountant in respect of all financial accounting aspects of the Trusts capital programme, fixed assets and leases, ensuring the Trust's monthly financial position and annual statutory accounts can be reported in line with accounting standards and guidance, and within allocated limits.

This role :

- provides accurate and timely monthly monitoring information in respect of expenditure against the Trust's capital programme.

- Maintains the Trust's fixed assets register

- Leads accounting for leases under IFRS16 by maintaining the Trust's register of leases and monthly leases reconciliations.

The finance team operates agile working with staff working from home and the office, which is based in Ladybridge Hall, Bolton. The office is open Monday to Friday. Ability to travel across the Northwest is required for occasional face to face meetings if needed.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Education and Qualifications Essential

oGCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English (grade C or above) oCCAB qualified

Experience Essential

oSubstantial experience of working in an NHS finance function, ideally within a Trust (min 3 years). oTechnical experience of Capital accounting and Capital asset management. oExperience of supporting the development of complex business cases for significant investments. oExperience of investment appraisal and supporting methodologies. oExperience of completing Capital statutory returns. oExperience of financial modelling and business planning.
