Senior Clinical Fellow (Registrar Grade) in General Paediatrics ST4+

Applications are invited for the role of a Senior Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics. The post will commence in the Sep 2026. The post is based at the Evelina London Children's Hospital at Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will gain Complex General Paediatric experience which includes exposure to sub-specialities such as Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Haematology, Endocrine and High Dependency Care. On-call duties are shared at middle grade level within general paediatrics and include cover of high dependency care, paediatric sub-speciality patients and paediatric surgical patients. This post is not recognised for training by the RCPCH but the training opportunities available are similar to those for ST6-8. There are many opportunities to be involved quality improvement and education work and the post-holder will be fully supported by an educational supervisor.

Job description Job responsibilities

The post holder will be part of a team of 5 registrar-grade doctors in general paediatrics, and will contribute to the team of 25 middle-grade doctors participating in the out-of-hours work. Duties are worked on a full shift system. Previous paediatric middle-grade experience is essential; applicants must have completed at least 2 years' ST1-3-level paediatrics or equivalent, including 6 months of neonatology.

Qualifications and Training Essential

A postgraduate diploma in paediatrics or part 1 and part 2 (written) MRCPCH (UK).

Clinical Experience Essential

At least 3 years of experience at ST1-3-level in paediatric, including 6 months neonatology.

Previous paediatric experience at ST4-8 level in the UK.

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team. Level 3 Child protection training Paediatric life support training (APLS/EPLS or equivalent). Evidence of experience in clinical procedures relevant to post

Research Essential

Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research.
