About this role

Job summary

The Suicide Liaison Service is a specialist county-wide service supporting adults (18+) who have been bereaved by suicide. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled practitioner to join our team, providing vital postvention support to individuals and families across Cornwall.

In this role, you will deliver a trauma-informed service to those affected by suicide loss. You will work directly with individuals, families, and wider support networks, offering emotional and psychological support, practical guidance, and clear information during an incredibly difficult time. This includes supporting people face-to-face in their homes or at base, as well as liaising with key agencies such as the Coroner's Office, Police, and faith groups where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake holistic assessments, including risk assessment, and monitor for the impact of trauma (including secondary trauma). You will provide psychoeducation, signpost to relevant services, and help individuals navigate practical matters following a bereavement.

The role also includes co-facilitating an 8-week bereavement by suicide support group programme and contributing to the delivery of training to professionals, supporting wider awareness and understanding of suicide bereavement.

The Suicide Liaison Service operates across the whole of Cornwall. This post will primarily cover Mid and West Cornwall, and regular travel across the county will be required.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and able to work autonomously, with a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and a commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
