Job summary
To support and assist the Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) in implementing and monitoring Oral Health Promotion programmes (OHPs) under the Designed to Smile umbrella under their supervision. To communicate with patients to gain consent for Oral Health programmes. To order and monitor the use of Oral Health Promotion resources, under the guidance of the HIP. To work as a member of the Oral Health Improvement team conducting delegated tasks related to OHP activities and adopting a community development approach. To assist the HIP staff in the development of departmental resources to support the delivery of the Designed to Smile Oral Health Promotion programme. Assist the HIPs with administrative and basic computer tasks.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit a Dental Health Support Worker. The successful post holder will work as part of the Welsh Government funded, Designed to Smile programme visiting nurseries and primary schools across Cardiff and Vale.
The post holder will work alongside a Dental Health Educator and will be responsible for the organisation of the supervised tooth brushing programme, to ensure it is run effectively and efficiently. To give full support when necessary with the Toothbrushing, Screening and Fluoride Varnish programmes.
The post holder will need to be a self motivated individual who is keen to be involved in delivering and developing the programme. A requirement of the post is to liaise with school staff and other health professionals to maintain good working relationships. Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise are required. The post holder will be required to travel between sites in a timely manner on a daily basis. A full manual driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive trust vehicles. Working hours will be 9.00 - 3.30pm Term Time Only Tuesday to Friday based at Treforest Industrial Estate ( 24 hours per week Term Time Only).
