About this role

Job summary Job Summary We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic engineering technician to join our team of clinical technologists in Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS), part of Medical Physics and Engineering sited in the Oncology Clinical Service Unit at Bexley Wing, St. Jamess University Hospital, Leeds.

You will work collaboratively to assist our engineering teams in providing specialist medical engineering services to support the clinical radiotherapy service and wider organisation, whilst following an engineering technologist training programme.

They will support the clinical radiotherapy service through the repair and maintenance of cancer treatment and clinical computing systems as well as building the knowledge and skills to support the design and development of devices to improve patient care and staff experience throughout the hospital. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, good team working skills, the ability to use their own initiative, and engineering proficiency.

Main duties of the job Why you should join our Team Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS) sits within the Radiotherapy Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, part of the Oncology Clinical Service Unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The team is made up of four specialist groupsClinical Computing, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Technical Serviceswho work closely together in multidisciplinary workgroups to support the safe and effective use of radiotherapy equipment. The atmosphere is highly collaborative and innovative, bringing together clinical expertise and scientific problem-solving to manage equipment, introduce new technologies, and ensure seamless service delivery. What you will bring to the role Technical - Provides clinical technical services and technical advice for radiotherapy technology users. Carries out supervised maintenance and calibration tasks on medical equipment. Assists in providing technical services for research & development activities. Produces custom-made treatment devices and manufactures other medical and non-medical devices per local procedures and work instructions.

Quality Assurance - Participates in the RTS ISO 9001 quality system and complies with the quality policy, quality manual, related procedures, work instructions, and Medical Devices Regulations. Assists in quality system administrative tasks, including calibration and inspection or test & measuring equipment calibration.

Management of Information - Accurately records all relevant information and maintains records according to Trust and departmental procedures, often in electronic format.
