Akamai's Compute Team simplifies and scales cloud computing to ensure global accessibility and affordability. This role supports the Meerkat team, which specializes in DevOps pipelines, hardware profiling, and server validation. The Principal Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) oversees automated server qualification, Jenkins pipeline creation, and platform validation for distributed cloud systems.
Partner with the best
Collaborate with engineers to create tests and manage test suites and automation frameworks for Akamai's core infrastructure performance. Design, develop, and execute scalable testing frameworks to deliver high-quality software and optimize performance. Work cross-functionally to improve test strategies, automation tools, and processes. Promote software quality enhancement through innovative testing solutions, ensuring reliability and efficiency throughout development lifecycles.
As a Principal SDET Lead on the Meerkat team, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing automated hardware benchmarking and complete server stack validation frameworks seamlessly integrated into CI/CD workflows.
- Guiding and mentoring engineers while shaping the technical roadmap for hardware profiling and platform qualification.
- Establishing hardware qualification standards, stress profiles, and acceptance criteria for newly introduced server equipment ensures optimal performance and reliability.
- Designing scalable automated test frameworks to ensure system reliability, hardware compatibility, and seamless platform integration.
- Designing, building, and optimizing enterprise Jenkins pipelines to enable continuous server stack validation and automated regression testing globally.
- Collaborating with DevOps, kernel, SRE, and datacenter teams to evaluate server architectures and address hardware deployment challenges effectively.

- Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of computer architecture, server hardware components, Linux operating system stacks, and cloud infrastructure validation.
- Analyze platform telemetry and hardware diagnostics to detect equipment flaws and deliver practical technical recommendations effectively.
- Have a solid understanding of Linux and OS fundamentals, including networking protocols
- Drive advanced DevOps practices and CI/CD integration, mastering Jenkins pipeline development alongside Python, Go, and Linux/Bash scripting.
