Requirements
- Strong network engineering background in complex enterprise, data centre or production environments
- Proven ability to support and maintain business-critical network infrastructure
- Strong technical knowledge of enterprise and data centre networking
- Hands-on understanding of BGP, OSPF, routing and switching
- Knowledge of network resilience and high availability
- Network troubleshooting and incident resolution skills
- Ability to manage network changes in highly available production environments
- Desirable: experience with AWS networking or multicast networking
- Desirable: network automation experience using Python and Ansible
- Desirable: experience in financial services, trading or other low-latency technology environments
- Desirable: experience in a global 24x7 follow-the-sun engineering model
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day network engineering and operations across global sites, data centres and cloud environments
- Support and maintain highly available, business-critical network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot complex issues across routing, switching, firewall and connectivity layers
- Own network incidents from initial investigation through resolution
- Plan and implement changes in a controlled production environment
- Diagnose network performance, connectivity and routing issues
- Configure, troubleshoot and optimise routing protocols, particularly BGP and OSPF
- Identify network vulnerabilities and points of failure, and recommend resilience improvements
- Support connectivity across data centres, offices and cloud infrastructure
- Develop network automation using Python and Ansible
- Collaborate with global engineering and infrastructure teams

We are advertising a six-month contract for two Senior Network Engineers with a financial-sector client. The roles support a sophisticated, business-critical trading platform across a global technology estate connecting data centres, offices, cloud environments and trading services. You will join a global engineering team working with colleagues in London and New York, with follow-the-sun coverage and significant technical ownership in a production network environment. The position is based in London on a hybrid arrangement, initially requiring four days per week onsite and reducing to two days per week onsite over time.
