Job Summary
The Cans Deco Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimal operation of can decorating equipment to ensure efficient production and high-quality decorated cans.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on decorators, ovens, and related equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on decorating lines.
- Execute repairs, adjustments, and component replacements on decorators, including ink systems, blanket assemblies, infeed and outfeed mechanisms, and curing ovens.
- Conduct machine setups and changeovers for different can sizes and decorating specifications.
- Monitor equipment performance during production to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Collaborate with production personnel to optimize machine settings and resolve decoration quality concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including LOTO procedures.
- Assist in the training of new mechanics and operators on equipment operation and basic maintenance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience on high-speed can decorating equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various physical positions, including standing, bending, and climbing.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
