Job Summary
The Cans Deco Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical maintenance and repair of high-speed printing and decorating equipment used in the manufacturing of metal cans, ensuring optimal machine performance and product quality.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on printing presses, coaters, and other decorating machinery according to established schedules and procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on can decorating equipment.
- Execute repairs and replace defective parts, including gears, bearings, motors, cylinders, and other components.
- Adjust and calibrate machinery to achieve specified print registration, color accuracy, and overall product decoration quality.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize machine efficiency.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately in maintenance logs and CMMS systems.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment as required.
- Identify and recommend improvements to equipment and processes to enhance reliability and performance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance field is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with printing and decorating equipment, ideally in the metal packaging industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with various hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
