About this role

Job Title: Electro-Mechanical TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Electro-Mechanical Technician assembles, wires, tests, troubleshoots, and supports custom automation equipment builds in a manufacturing and engineering shop environment. Working from engineering drawings and schematics, this role independently takes projects from start to finish, combining electrical panel wiring, mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, and hands-on fabrication. The ability to read ladder logic schematics is required for this position and is essential to maintaining quality, meeting production timelines, and successfully completing complex automation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, and build electrical panels and mechanical assemblies for custom automation systems.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and ladder logic diagrams to complete projects accurately.
  • Independently take assigned automation equipment builds from initial assembly through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Perform electrical panel wiring, including routing, terminating, and labeling wires according to schematics and standards.
  • Carry out mechanical assembly of automation equipment, including framing, mounting components, and integrating mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Test assembled systems using appropriate tools and methods to verify correct operation and identify issues.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on custom automation projects to ensure reliable performance.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, electrical tools, and machine shop equipment safely and effectively during assembly and fabrication.
  • Support automation equipment builds in assembly bays and on the production floor as part of a team-based environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to clarify drawings, resolve build issues, and improve build processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area within a clean but industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Occasionally support installation or field service activities related to automation equipment.
  • Work a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule, Monday through Friday, in alignment with production and engineering needs.
  • Be prepared to transition work location to the Franklin facility when the company moves there by 2027.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret ladder logic schematics (required; candidates without this skill do not qualify).
  • Strong electrical panel wiring skills, including building and wiring systems directly from drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly and electronic assembly for automation equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, electrical tools, and basic machine shop equipment.
  • Troubleshooting skills for both electrical and mechanical issues on custom automation projects.
  • Capability to work independently and take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing and engineering shop environment with frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and troubleshooting.
  • Willingness and ability to continue in the role when the facility relocates to Franklin by 2027.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Industrial automation experience.
  • Machine building experience, particularly with custom automation systems.
  • Controls experience and exposure to PLCs.
  • Experience using an oscilloscope for testing and diagnostics.
  • Proficiency with multi-meter testing for electrical verification and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with aluminum extrusion in assembly or service contexts.
  • Electrician license.
  • Trade school education or equivalent technical training related to electrical, mechanical, or automation disciplines.

Why Work Here? Employees work on a wide variety of projects rather than repetitive assembly, gaining exposure to modern automation technologies and a mix of electrical and mechanical work. The role offers the opportunity to build complex systems from start to finish, fostering strong skill development in automation and controls. Team members benefit from a stable manufacturing and engineering environment that encourages independence, ownership of projects, and continuous technical growth.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a manufacturing and engineering shop environment with assembly bays and a production floor. The work involves electrical panel construction and mechanical assembly of automation equipment in a clean but industrial setting. Technicians frequently stand, walk, lift, bend, and troubleshoot throughout the day while using hand tools, power tools, electrical tools, and machine shop equipment. The standard shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The company will move operations to a facility in Franklin (in the former I-Automation building) by 2027, and the position will transition to that location at that time. Work is performed in a team-based environment that supports engineering and operations, with occasional opportunities to assist with installation or field service activities.
