About this role

Job Title: Press Brake OperatorJob DescriptionThe Press Brake Operator sets up and operates press brake equipment to bend and shape metal components according to detailed blueprints. This role works in a custom fabrication environment where parts and projects vary daily, requiring careful measurement, precise adjustments, and consistent adherence to safety procedures. While major CNC programming is not a core part of the job, you will make minor program or angle tweaks as needed to achieve accurate bends.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form metal parts according to blueprint specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine bend dimensions, angles, and sequence of operations.
  • Use tape measures and other measuring tools to verify material dimensions and ensure parts meet required tolerances.
  • Perform basic CNC operating tasks on the press brake, including making minor adjustments to angles, degrees, and settings as needed.
  • Inspect completed parts for accuracy, quality, and consistency, making corrections when necessary.
  • Work on a variety of custom fabrication projects, adapting to changing part designs and daily workloads.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe machine operation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around the press brake and related equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with coworkers across the shop to coordinate workflow and resolve production issues.
  • Participate in training on additional equipment and processes as needed to support overall shop operations.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in press brake operation, including setup and safe machine use.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic CNC operating skills, with the ability to make minor program or angle adjustments.
  • Strong measurement skills using tape measures and other basic measuring tools.
  • Commitment to following all safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of coworkers in a gritty, industrial setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in custom metal fabrication or job-shop environments is beneficial.
  • Willingness to learn and train on additional equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Adaptability to changing tasks and projects from day to day.
  • Reliability and readiness to work a consistent first-shift schedule.
  • Comfort working in non-climate-controlled warehouse facilities that can be very hot or very cold.

Why Work Here? You join a close-knit team where many employees stay long term because they genuinely enjoy the environment and the people they work with. The culture emphasizes a family-like atmosphere, mutual respect, and trust, with minimal micromanagement once you are up to speed in your role. You have the opportunity to grow your skills through training on additional equipment as much as you are willing to learn, and you benefit from a four-day work week that supports work-life balance.

Work EnvironmentThis is a first-shift position running from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, providing a four-day work week. Work takes place across two small warehouse-style buildings that are dirty, industrial spaces and are not climate controlled, so temperatures can become very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. The team is gritty and hardworking, and you will interact with a wide range of personalities and backgrounds, so being able to get along with different types of people is important. Typical shop attire is practical and suitable for an industrial manufacturing environment, with appropriate safety gear used as required.
