  • Respond to equipment issues and production downtime with a strong sense of urgency to minimize disruptions and maintain plant productivity.
  • Coordinate with OEM technical support and other external resources when additional expertise is needed to complete complex repairs.
  • Take ownership of problems from initial diagnosis through repair, follow-up, and implementation of corrective actions to prevent future failures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on critical production equipment, including welders, cutting systems, conveyors, and automated assembly equipment.
  • Identify early signs of wear, deterioration, and potential equipment failure before they escalate into larger production issues.
  • Help develop, refine, and execute preventive maintenance procedures and schedules that improve equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance and reliability.
  • Look beyond immediate repairs to identify and implement opportunities that prevent recurring problems and enhance long-term asset health.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, wiring, conduit work, and schematic interpretation.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, programmable logic controllers, and PLC control systems.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills applied to complex equipment issues.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assignments, and collaborate effectively with a maintenance and production team.
  • Proactive mindset and commitment to continuous learning across electrical, mechanical, automation, and safety disciplines.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices in an industrial environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using CMMS or other computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Experience developing or improving preventive maintenance procedures and programs.
  • Background in preventive maintenance planning and execution for high-volume manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with automation equipment, including robotic lines such as Fanuc robots.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a plastic extrusion manufacturing environment that combines both new and legacy equipment, including several robotic lines using Fanuc technology. The production floor is relatively clean and well ventilated, though temperatures can become warm during the summer months. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toed boots, ear and eye protection, and long sleeves, in line with safety standards for an industrial setting.
