General Laborer - Carpentry @ Aerotek

Job Title: General LaborerPay: $20-24.00 per hourJob DescriptionThe General Laborer supports commercial construction projects by performing a wide range of physical tasks that assist skilled tradespeople, superintendents, and project teams. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean, and productive job site while contributing to material handling, site preparation, demolition, and general construction activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled tradespeople, lead carpenters, and project teams with day-to-day construction activities on commercial job sites.
• Perform general labor tasks such as material handling, site preparation, cleanup, and debris removal to maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Support framing, drywall, installation, and finish carpentry work as directed by supervisors and carpenters.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
• Follow instructions from superintendents and lead carpenters to help keep projects on schedule and within quality standards.
• Read or follow basic directions from blueprints and construction documents under guidance when needed.
• Assist with demolition and construction preparation work in various commercial environments, including schools, healthcare, retail, office, warehouse, municipal, and religious facilities.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and practices to minimize risk and maintain a secure job site.
• Help maintain a clean, orderly, and productive work environment throughout the workday.
• Communicate professionally with team members, owners, and clients as needed while representing the company on job sites.

Essential Skills

• At least 6+ months of experience working in a physically demanding, hands-on environment.
• Ability to perform continuous physical labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Experience using basic hand tools and power tools in a construction or similar setting.
• Some commercial carpentry experience preferred, including exposure to framing, drywall, installation, and finish carpentry.
• Ability to follow directions from superintendents, lead carpenters, and project teams and work effectively as part of a crew.
• Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines.
• Reliability and punctuality for full-time, Monday to Friday work with potential overtime or weekend hours as needed.
• Professional communication skills to interact appropriately with team members, owners, and clients.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ months working for a commercial general contractor preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with reading or following basic instructions from blueprints is beneficial.
• Interest in developing carpentry skills and growing into a carpenter role over time.
• Ability to adapt to different types of commercial projects, including schools, healthcare, retail/restaurant, office/warehouse, municipal, and churches.
• Willingness to occasionally travel to job sites outside the immediate Colorado Springs / Monument area when needed.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based on various commercial construction job sites in the greater Colorado Springs and Monument area, with occasional one-off projects in nearby locations such as Parker. Work includes school projects during the summer (typically from mid-May through early to mid-August) and a variety of other commercial projects such as healthcare, retail/restaurant, office/warehouse, municipal, and churches throughout the year. The schedule is full-time, Monday to Friday, with typical working hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Overtime is possible but not guaranteed, and Saturday work may be required depending on project needs. You work closely with lead carpenters who provide guidance and on-the-job learning in a culture-oriented environment that emphasizes teamwork and professional behavior on site.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
