Generator Repairer / Field Service Technician

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Generator Repairer / Field Service Technician to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work on critical power generation equipment in a variety of industrial environments while developing valuable technical expertise. Candidates who enjoy hands-on mechanical and electrical work, traveling to customer sites, and solving complex equipment issues will thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, repair, rewind, test, and reassemble generators, motors, and related electrical/mechanical equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Lead and direct crews of technicians and winders on assigned projects.
• Serve as the primary on-site contact for customers and maintain professional client relationships.
• Prepare detailed job reports documenting repair scope, findings, testing results, and recommendations.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company and customer standards.
• Identify additional repair opportunities and communicate recommendations to customers.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
• Travel throughout the United States and internationally to support customer needs.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, disassembly, and repair.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including domestic and international assignments.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
• Proficiency with computers and technical documentation.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings required for access to industrial and nuclear facilities.

Preferred

• Generator, motor, or electromechanical repair experience.
• Industrial maintenance or field service experience.
• Electrical repair or motor rewinding experience.
• Welding experience.
• Bilingual capabilities.

Work Environment

• Non-climate-controlled shop environment with large industrial ventilation systems.
• Industrial customer locations including manufacturing facilities, power plants, chemical plants, and nuclear facilities.
• Frequent travel and field work required throughout the year.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Affton, MO.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
