Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year
Requirements
- At least five years of professional Java development experience; eight or more years would be advantageous
- Strong knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming and software design principles
- Experience developing and maintaining complex applications
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, databases and SQL
- Familiarity with version control, automated testing and modern development practices
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
- A proactive, collaborative approach and a strong desire to learn
- Strong academic achievement, ideally excellent A-Level results and a degree from a highly regarded university
- A first-class degree is preferred for less experienced candidates; a 2:1 is acceptable for more experienced applicants
- Experience developing scalable, high-performance or distributed applications is desirable
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies and containerisation is desirable
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable Java applications
- Write clean, efficient and maintainable code following best practices
- Analyse complex technical challenges and deliver effective solutions
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through to testing and deployment
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
- Improve application performance, reliability and scalability
- Participate in code reviews and take ownership of technical deliverables
