Job Title: Packaging Associate Afternoon ShiftJob DescriptionThis role involves working on a fast-paced food production line to package, box, and palletize food products in a cool-temperature manufacturing environment. You will rotate through different packaging stations, perform quality checks, complete basic paperwork, and handle repetitive tasks that require attention to detail, safe lifting, and comfort around continuously running machinery.

Responsibilities

• Package food products on a production line, ensuring items are correctly placed, sealed, and prepared for boxing.
• Box packaged food products and stack completed boxes onto pallets in an organized and stable manner.
• Perform overhead lifting of up to 10 lbs repeatedly and lift boxes and materials up to 4050 lbs as required.
• Work in an environment maintained at approximately 810 degrees, staying focused and productive throughout the shift.
• Operate and work alongside continuously running machinery and conveyors, following safety guidelines at all times.
• Rotate through different positions along one production line in a single room, adapting to various tasks as needed.
• Complete necessary paperwork, including notes on defects, waste, and other production records, while performing quality control checks during packaging.
• Handle frozen products by picking up 89 spring rolls at a time and placing them into carts or appropriate containers.
• Support the multi-vac packaging process by working at the end of the line to apply sleeves and labels to cartons.
• Place sleeved and labeled products into boxes and add completed boxes to pallets for storage or shipment.
• Maintain high productivity in a very repetitive and fast-paced environment while sustaining accuracy and quality.
• Communicate clearly in English, responding to open-ended questions with complete sentences when interacting with team members and supervisors.
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility rules.
• Work scheduled afternoon shifts Monday to Friday, arriving on site in time to be on the production floor and ready for the pre-shift meeting.
• Attend a mandatory orientation session on a day shift prior to starting afternoon shifts, and transition to the afternoon schedule the following day.
• Work with a variety of food ingredients, including pork, chicken, beef, eggs, flour, and other components, while following hygiene and food safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift on a production floor.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly, including overhead lifting of 10 lbs.
• Comfort working in a cool environment maintained at approximately 810 degrees.
• Comfort performing repetitive tasks in a very fast-paced production setting.
• Comfort working around machinery and conveyors that run continuously with constant noise.
• Strong basic English communication skills, including the ability to answer open-ended questions with full sentences.
• Reliability in working scheduled weekdays and weekends as required by production demands.
• Ability to work with various food products, including pork, chicken, beef, eggs, flour, and other ingredients.
• Willingness and ability to wear steel toe work boots and all required personal protective equipment.

• Previous experience in food production or food packaging is an asset.
• Prior packaging or manufacturing experience is considered an advantage.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a food manufacturing facility with numerous conveyors and machines running continuously, creating a fast-paced and consistently noisy environment. The production area is maintained at a cool temperature of approximately 810 degrees, and work is highly repetitive and time-sensitive. The culture is very multicultural and family-oriented, fostering collaboration and respect among team members. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., with the requirement to be on site by 2:30 p.m. and ready on the production floor for a non-negotiable pre-shift meeting at 2:45 p.m. A mandatory orientation takes place on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., which must be completed on a day shift before transitioning to the afternoon shift the next day. The dress code includes steel toe work boots, lab coats, hair nets, gloves, and beard nets if needed, with no jewelry permitted, ensuring compliance with safety and food hygiene standards.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, BC.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.90 - $19.90/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
