Senior CAD Engineer / CAD Team Leader – Mechanical Design

Are you a Senior CAD Engineer who regularly supports colleagues, checks drawings or helps organise project workloads?
An established multidisciplinary engineering company is looking for a CAD Team Leader to coordinate its UK mechanical CAD function.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position, combining mechanical design with responsibility for engineering quality, workload planning and team development.
Your responsibilities
- Coordinate the daily and weekly workload of four CAD Engineers.
- Produce 3D mechanical models and manufacturing drawings.
- Check technical drawings for accuracy, quality and compliance.
- Support project managers in planning and prioritising design work.
- Mentor and train CAD engineers, apprentices and graduates.
- Maintain engineering standards and drawing procedures.
- Support the development of improved CAD processes and data management.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years' mechanical CAD design experience.
- Strong experience producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings.
- Understanding of fabricated components and manufacturing processes.
- Experience checking the work of other CAD engineers.
- Previous involvement in mentoring or training colleagues.
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple engineering projects.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault would be particularly beneficial.
You don't need to be an existing CAD Manager. Experience as a Senior CAD Engineer or technical lead could make you an excellent fit.
