Job summary
We are seeking to appoint 1 Junior Clinical Fellow doctor at Senior House Officer level in Diabetes and Endocrinology. The available post is suitable for those that have completed Foundation or Core Medical training (or equivalent). The clinical work will include day-to-day ward work, on-call ward cover and clerking admissions. Fellows are encouraged to attend weekly departmental teaching, Grand round, and X-ray meetings as well as monthly clinical governance and mortality meetings. They are also encouraged to take study leave to attend courses and conferences particularly to present their own work. The Fellows will be entitled to apply for the post graduate study leave budget, as well as funding from the Guardian of Safe Working to attend such extra-curricular events.
Main duties of the job
Supplement daily consultant ward rounds
Provide supervision and support to FY1 doctors on the unit
Take part in the weekly clinical activities (there are opportunities to take part in specialist clinics)
Closely liaise with other medical firms for prompt patient referrals and hand over of the care
Take part in weekly educational activities (We encourage successful candidates to take part in quality improvement projects relevant to acute medicine)

Appropriate medical knowledge at SHO level. Understand and follow national guidelines.
