Do you want to make a difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities living in Croydon and promote the best outcomes possible? We are looking for a passionate Community Learning Disability Nurse ready to take their knowledge and skills to the next level, as an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent position in the Croydon Community Learning Disabilities Team.
The successful candidate will have astrong skillset working with people with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions, complex physical health and mental health issues.
The successful applicant will join a highly valued nursing service as part of themultidisciplinary team for adults with intellectual disabilities, based in the heart of Croydon.
The CLDT comprises Learning Disability Nurses, Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, a Dietitian and Physiotherapists. The service is located in Bernard Weatherill House, Croydon Council Headquarter, and has strong working relationships with key partner agencies including Croydon Adult Social Care and Croydon Mental Health in Learning Disabilities (South London and Maudsley).
This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working and job share may be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the team.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide Community Learning Disability Nursing service to adults with learning disabilities who live in the Croydon area. The post holder will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary Community Learning Disability health team to identify and address health inequalities for PWLD (People with Learning Disabilities) who live either independently or with families/carers.

RNLD and current UK NMC registration Knowledge of current health and social care issues relevant to work with people with learning disabilities. Relevant experience of working in a community setting. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities with complex physical health needs Experience of working with people with learning disabilities who engage in behaviours that challenge. Good organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills. Ability to produce written reports of clinical work
Desirable
Recognised qualification in positive behaviour support. Evidence of post qualification training /experience up to degree level in a relevant field Experience of MDT working with people with suspected dementia. Experience of MDT working with people with suspected autism.

Knowledge of legislative and policy framework for people with learning disabilities.
Desirable
Experience of working with people with a learning disability who are inpatients in an acute hospital.
