About this role

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Nurse to join the Research and Innovation (R&I) Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, based at Good Hope Hospital.

The role is permanent and full time (37.5 hours per week) The role offers the chance to be part of a busy, supportive, and forward-thinking research environment where your work will directly contribute to the delivery of high-quality clinical research.

Research at Good Hope is in a exciting phase where we are continuing to grow our varied portfolio which includes new commercial activity as well as our academic portfolio. You will play a key role in the coordination and delivery of research studies, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure studies run efficiently, safely, and in line with regulatory standards.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the delivery of a portfolio of clinical research studies in the core team at Good Hope Hospital, ensuring all activity is conducted in line with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Key responsibilities include:

*Coordinating and delivering research studies from set-up to close, supporting recruitment to time and target

*Identifying, screening, and consenting patients in accordance with ethical and legal standards

*Delivering study procedures and monitoring patient safety, including reporting adverse events

*Collecting and maintaining accurate research data and documentation to audit-ready standards

*Acting as a key point of contact for patients, clinical teams, and study sponsors

*Supporting study set-up, including feasibility and site initiation activities

*Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to embed research into clinical care

*Contributing to governance, audit, and the promotion of research across the Trust

The post holder will work both independently and as part of the research team, ensuring high standards of patient care and research delivery.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

*Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register *Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing

Desirable

*Health care management / leadership qualification.

Experience Essential

*Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration *Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff *Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD *Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff *Experience of mentoring undergraduate students *Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department *Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.

Desirable

*Evidence of Research knowledge *Experience of clinical trials/ studies/ research coordination
