On the first of February 2021 the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals became part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust- a truly once in a generation development.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced radiographer to join our management team, as the lead radiographer for IR, x-Ray, and fluoroscopy in the Imaging Department at the Royal Brompton Hospital. The post offers the chance to develop team leadership skills within heart and lung imaging.
In January 2022 we opened a new diagnostic imaging centre with state-of-the-art facilities including an additional CT scanner (Siemens Force), a dedicated interventional radiology lab (Phillips Azurion 7) and a Siemens fluoroscopy & DR room. The rest of the department is within the existing buildings and includes; 2 Siemens CT scanners, 6 cardiac catheter labs, including a hybrid theatre/cath lab, 2 general DR x-ray rooms and DR mobiles.
We offer supportive comprehensive training in the specialist imaging modalities focused on cardiac and respiratory procedures and you will be part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
To help ensure the provision of a high-quality general x-ray, IR and fluoroscopy service at the Royal Brompton Hospital, meeting the needs of referrers and maintaining high standards of patient care.
As part of the management team, the post requires leadership of the general x-ray, IR, and fluoroscopy areas of the Imaging Department. Having responsibility for work carried out in these areas, and the staff working within them.
To work in a clinical capacity as a rotational radiographer through the general, and CT areas. There is optional engagement with the out-of-hours service.
To be an RPS for general x-ray, IR, and fluoroscopy; ensuring that work is carried out within the local and national regulations and guidelines concerning ionising radiation and health and safety.
To be responsible for the induction, assessment, training and workload allocation of the radiographers.
To ensure equipment is maintained and operated safely, with SOP's, risk assessments, and training records developed and implemented.
Assisting with stock levels and procurement.
To contribute to the continuing professional development, competence and overall performance of all staff in the radiology department
To play a role in the continuous development of the department as a member of the radiology management team, and to be involved with day-to-day running of the department, as well as deputising for members of the management team when required.
