Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time, fixed term 12-month appointment as Senior Clinical Fellow in Medical Dermatology and Digital Education, commencing 5 August 2026. This post is suitable for dermatologists seeking to develop an interest in medical education and acquire specialist training in complex medical dermatology.
This is an excellent opportunity to both develop an interest in medical education and receive supra-specialist training in complex medical dermatology. The post holder will join a first-class, multi-disciplinary team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment. This post will comprise 50:50 education and clinical time.
The post holder will have a unique opportunity to develop as a medical educationist, advancing the digital education portfolio of St John's DermAcademy. As a senior clinical fellow within highly specialised medical dermatology, the post holder will receive supra-specialist training in the management of adult severe inflammatory skin disease and optimised use of biologic and other immunomodulatory therapies.

Main duties of the job
This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the continued development of St John's DermAcademy while receiving specialist clinical experience in complex medical dermatology at St John's Institute of Dermatology.
The post is funded 50% by the Specialist Ambulatory Medical Services Directorate for clinical activities and 50% by St John's DermAcademy for educational activities. The role uniquely comprises two integrated parts: postgraduate medical education and medical dermatology.
The post holder will have a pivotal role in the content development, organisation and delivery of postgraduate courses and education initiatives for St John's DermAcademy, with particular emphasis on growing the digital education portfolio. This will include online educational modules, webinars, podcasts and other evidence-based digital education resources for healthcare professionals.
The role will also offer opportunities for personal development as an educationalist, including support to undertake a formal qualification in medical education, such as a postgraduate certificate in medical education.

Job Summary:
This post will comprise clinical time within the medical dermatology and general dermatology services at St Johns Institute of Dermatology, and education time supporting St Johns DermAcademy.
The job comprises two parts education and medical dermatology.
1. Education St Johns DermAcademy
This role is fundamental to the successful running of St Johns DermAcademy, which provides evidence-based, clinically focused dermatology education of the highest quality at national and international level.
The post holder will contribute to the growth of St Johns DermAcademys digital education portfolio, overseeing content and helping with the organisation and delivery of multiple dermatology education resources for healthcare professionals, including innovative online educational modules, webinars and podcasts.
The role involves working with the events and administrative team to deliver high-quality online education resources that are evidence-based, clinically focused and relevant to the range of healthcare providers who enrol.

Person Specification
Professional Qualifications Essential
Full GMC Registration and hold a licence to practise MB BS (or equivalent). MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
Desirable
CCT Dermatology or equivalent post-CCT level dermatology experience / CCT Dermatology within 1 year

Comprehensive clinical experience in medical dermatology.

Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
Audit Management & IT Essential
Ability to use IT systems and digital platforms effectively to support clinical work and digital education development and delivery. Understanding of how online resources can support high-quality, evidence-based dermatology education.
