Job summary
The ELCH Children's Surgery, Theatres and Anaesthesia (CSTA) Directorate is seeking a full-time Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant proficient in the management of children with general acute and elective orthopaedic needs. They will work with an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team within the Evelina to provide optimal surgical care to children who may have complex orthopaedic problems and complex comorbidities.
Main duties of the job
The post holder would provide a general paediatric orthopaedic service for the local population in conjunction with the existing paediatric orthopaedic surgeons, and would be encouraged if appropriate to contribute to the subspecialist care of children with complex orthopaedic needs from the wider region. They will work with clinical colleagues in the regional network to provide an integrated service with formalised governance arrangements with other specialist(s) in appropriate subspecialist field(s), and will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, audit and M&M meetings, both within the department and between departments.
The appointee will join a team currently consisting five paediatric orthopaedic specialists, who between them now provide a full-time on-call service for complex paediatric orthopaedic
problems, managing referrals from within the hospital, the local population, and the wider region. In addition to this specialist service, the team provide support to the St. Thomas' hospital Orthopaedic Trauma service who deliver orthopaedic care to routine (non-complex) paediatric trauma patients. The post holder is expected to participate in under-graduate and post-graduate teaching and training, and to facilitate the research that is being undertaken. It is hoped that the post-holder will also contribute research of their own.

Professional Qualifications Essential
Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship minimum of one year and to include the consultant's specialist subject within paediatric orthopaedic surgery FRCS(Orth) or equivalent Full GMC Registration with entry on the Specialist Register, or within 3 months of CCST. Evidence of continuing professional / personal development.
