Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director to lead the operational delivery of the Surrey West Neighbourhood Mental Health Services.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior leadership role at the forefront of mental health transformation across Surrey West. As Associate Director for Neighbourhood Mental Health Surrey West, you will play a critical part in designing and delivering services that truly make a difference to people's lives and support the national strategy for neighbourhood health and the NHS 10-year Plan.

We are looking for an ambitious, forward-thinking leader who is passionate about delivering outstanding, patient-centred care. You will drive the development of high-quality, clinically effective services across our neighbourhoods--Spelthorne, Runnymede, Woking, Surrey Heath, Guildford, and Waverley--ensuring they are innovative, responsive, and sustainably delivered.

Working as part of the Divisional Management Team, you will collaborate closely with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver key performance targets. You will play a vital role project leading, supporting the division to meet its objectives, ensure delivery of some of the Division's key transformation work streams to improve the quality and efficiency of our services, in discussion with Divisional Director.

This role offers the chance to lead at scale, influence strategy, and leave a lasting legacy on mental health care across Neighbourhood Surrey West.

Main duties of the job

To work in collaboration with and provide support to the Clinical Leads and Senior teams to drive change and modernisation ensuring the achievement of National, Trust and Divisional performance indicators and objectives.

To act as point of contact, on a daily basis, for senior team members across the Division, providing senior operational help and assistance when required, to ensure the safe and smooth running of the teams.

To actively contribute to the co-ordination of the Divisions Annual Plan, identifying business opportunities and supporting Clinical and Service Leads with business planning and change management initiatives.

Lead on the development and formulation of integrated business plans within areas of responsibility including capacity planning, demand forecasting and workforce planning, including good involvement.

To provide strong, clear leadership and operational management in the business aspects of the Division to achieve a fully integrated approach to delivering high quality, adaptable, person led services.

To be an ambassador for the Division, finding opportunities to influence Executive and Non-executive Directors as well as external stakeholders.

To work with the divisional management team to ensure the delivery of quality and governance priorities as required, including oversight of risk and complaints management processes.

To deputise for the Divisional Director as required.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Extensive knowledge and proven track record of delivery in managing a range of diverse and complex operational services. Extensive experience of managing people and financial resources at senior level. Experience of developing services through facilitating change and innovation in a multi-disciplinary team(s). Experience of Business Planning to include developing & producing business plans/cases and Budgetary Management. Experience in writing policies and procedures. Demonstrates understanding and recent experience of project management skills.

Desirable

Evidence of the implementation of innovative practice. Awareness of strategic management processes and their application, information and workforce planning. Experience of working with external agencies. A proven track record in delivering and planning complex projects and targets in the NHS.

Qualifications Essential

Professional Registration (NMC/HCPC/Social Worker)

Desirable

Educated to a Master's Degree Level or equivalent qualification. A management qualification (DMS) or equivalent. A post graduate health qualification or equivalent. Evidence of recent continuous professional development at a senior level to include leadership development.

Skills Essential

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other partners and professions through stakeholder management/relationship building (internal and external). Ability to influence and negotiate sometimes conflicting and difficult relationships. To be able to understand, articulate and implement countywide and national policies / agenda. Ability to manage complex and conflicting priorities, balancing competing priorities of services and staff. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Standard keyboard skills, including knowledge of Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
