About this role

Job summary

A Nurse Specialist Safeguarding fixed term contract or internal secondment post is available within the Safeguarding Team. This will provide a development opportunity for someone who has an interest in working in the safeguarding arena. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, , demonstrable interest and preferably experience in safeguarding work.Experience of delivering supervision would be preferable or a willingness to complete the NSPCC Safeguarding Supervision course. In addition they must be able to demonstrate experience of multi-agency working.

The Nurse Specialist Safeguarding supports the Head of Safeguarding in delivering safeguarding advice, support, supervision and training to all staff within the Trust. The role is pivotal in promoting safe, high-quality, services, ensuring safeguarding statutory responsibilities are met, and developing best practice across the organisation. The post holder will work closely with health and social care partners, contribute to policy and training development, and provide expert advice and supervision to staff.

Main duties of the job

Provide safeguarding advice, support, and training to all Trust staff. With the team, support the delivery of the Trust's safeguarding training strategy, ensuring statutory requirements are met. Offer highly specialist, professional advice to promote safe, high-quality services to both child/family and adult services Work with health practitioners and managers to develop high standards of practice for managing vulnerable children/adult and families. Participate in and represent the Trust at safeguarding meetings and working groups. Communicate highly sensitive and complex information accurately to health colleagues, social workers, and partner agencies. Provide safeguarding supervision for defined staff groups, developing and reviewing action plans as needed. Ensure new national and local policies are distributed, understood, and implemented by staff. Assist in managing Child/Adult Safeguarding Reviews, including implementing and auditing recommendations. Critically evaluate practice using information from incidents, data, reviews, and research, and revise training accordingly. Contribute to the planning and development of the Safeguarding Team and information management systems Build and maintain relationships with Trust staff and partner agencies. Maintain emotional resilience and uphold the values of the organisation. Ensure compliance with confidentiality, information governance, health and safety, and infection prevention and control policies

Training and Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse BSc (Hons) Public Health, Specialist Practitioner (Health Visitor or School Nurse) or community practitioner Post registration training qualification, ENB 998 or equivalent Level 4 Safeguarding Children training or willingness to undertake Evidence of on-going professional development

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a community setting Experience of assessing risks and reporting and escalating concerns Demonstrated experience of co- working in complex and challenging environments Significant experience of working in a safeguarding environment

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Current knowledge of NHS safeguarding policy and process and underpinning legislation Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to partners from a broad range agencies, disciplines, and services Sound Knowledge of legislation and policy, e.g., Children Act 1989, 2004, Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2015, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLs), Domestic Abuse Act 2021, Data protection, and NHS Confidentiality Guidance Demonstrate knowledge of inter-agency working Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources
