An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a Advanced Financial Analyst role within the ISM finance team, at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Advanced Financial Analyst is a demanding one supporting the production of monthly reports, projections, and analysis in one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country. The post holder will also help plan and lead on specific areas of work that may cut across the whole Trust.This role will support Clinical areas. The key focus of the role is to produce the monthly set of management accounting information. This will involve meeting with budget-holders and generating intelligence to support forecasting and business plans whilst supporting Senior Financial Management staff. The successful candidate is also expected to take the lead in setting up new reports, reviewing existing standards and provide training to budget-holders and other key staffThe ideal applicant will already have substantial experience of working within a finance function with proven experience in a Financial Management role. You will be enthusiastic and keen to learn. You will have a good eye for detail, the ability to meet deadlines, strong communication and advanced IT skills and actively studying towards CCAB Qualification

Qualifications Essential
Educated to at least AAT certificate level, or degree level, or equivalent experience. Significant progress made towards completing a CCAB qualification.
Skills Essential
Advanced ECDL qualification, spreadsheet skills to 'macro' level. A good working knowledge of the method of operation of all the accounting sub-systems. Understand the use and purpose of accounting accruals and provisions. Understand the use and purpose of balance sheet accounts for stock accounting. Be able to prepare statements of budget and actual performance from a trial balance. Be able to identify and investigate significant variances summarising the financial position and identifying trends.
Experience Essential
Substantial experience of working in an accounting department and must have proven experience within a financial management role. Advanced ECDL qualification, spreadsheet skills to 'macro' level. Able to work with minimal supervision from the Senior Financial Analyst. Highly organised approach and able to prioritise own work to meet tight deadlines and targets. Flexible and able to work as part of a team to ensure that team deadlines are met. Must show initiative and work well when not being directly supervised Personal presentation must be of a high professional standard. Strong sense of quality and customer focus. An ability to listen to budget holders and other senior managers, and to respond to questions or requests for information in a way in which non-financial staff will understand and can make use of. Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both non-finance and finance staff. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely and effectively with staff at all levels within the organisation. Able to deal confidently and professionally with queries from budget holders. Able to use judgement and experience to analyse variances and trends. Self motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving. Prepared to contribute to how the department operates. Able to carry out work with the required attention to detail necessary in a financial management department. Able to concentrate and focus on a range of issues, in particular during the monthly reporting cycle.
