About this role

Job summary

To develop and maintain an effective and quality administration service to the Specialist Nursing Team and clinical team. To act as a pivotal role for communication and appointment making with patients, professional health colleagues, multi-disciplinary teams, internal departments and external agencies as necessary to ensure continuity of patient care. To support the Specialist Nursing Team with telephone queries, emails and ensure written communication is typed up and circulated appropriately.

To assist the Diabetes nursing and clinical teams with accurate and reliable sources of information using hospital systems such Meditech-V6 and Medisec. Using these systems, support and manage the administration of Type 1 and 2 education programmes DAFNE and DESMOND. Manage waiting lists and complete audits.

Complete data collection and submit to National Diabetes Audits, working with the clinical team to ensure accuracy.

The post holder will be able to effectively communicate with external pharmaceutical companies ensuring swift delivery of technology to tight deadlines

The post holder will work with limited supervision within the remit of the role but under the guidance of the Nursing Team and clinical staff. Working patterns are Monday-Friday, 7.5 hour days but can be flexible.

Main duties of the job

Supporting a team of Diabetes Specialist Nurses (Band 6 and Band 7). Dealing with numerous phone calls and emails per day, triaging calls in priority using ones own judgement from various resources including patients who are sometimes distressed, Carers, GP surgeries, Community Teams and Pharmaceutical Representatives.

Managing structured education programmes to ensure they run effectively and audit data submitted.

Complete and submit national audits.

Skills Essential

Qualifications Essential

NVQ3 in Business Administration Educated to GCSE (A-C/49) (Numeracy and Literacy) standard or equivalent IT skills
