Job summary
We are looking for a friendly, organised, and proactive GP Receptionist to join our busy and welcoming practice. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring a smooth patient journey. This role can be filled as a full-time position or split between two part-time employees.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will manage patient appointments, respond to enquiries both in person and over the phone, and support the administrative functions of the practice. You will ensure accurate patient information is recorded, assist with patient requests, and help maintain an efficient and professional front-of-house service. You will also work closely with clinical staff to support the overall delivery of high-quality care.

Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
Managing appointment bookings and cancellations
Handling incoming calls and responding to queries
Maintaining accurate patient records using clinical systems
Processing administrative requests
Liaising with clinicians and other healthcare professionals
Ensuring confidentiality and data protection at all times
Supporting general administrative duties within the practice
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organisational and multitasking abilities IT literacy and experience with office systems Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Professional and empathetic approach to patient care
Desirable
Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting Knowledge of clinical systems (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne) Understanding of patient confidentiality and GDPR
