Time Appointments are working with a successful and established business that is looking for an experienced Senior Transport Operator to join their team based in Southampton.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced transport professional who enjoys being at the heart of a busy operation and is ready to take on a little more responsibility.
You’ll play a key role in the smooth running of the transport operation, coordinating drivers and vehicles, dealing with customers and suppliers, and making sure everything stays on track when things don't quite go to plan.
Working as part of a busy transport team, your responsibilities will include:
Coordinating the day-to-day transport operationPlanning and scheduling vehicle and driver movementsCommunicating with drivers, customers and internal teamsMonitoring deliveries and resolving any issues or delaysEnsuring transport activities are carried out safely and efficientlySupporting driver management and day-to-day operational queriesMaintaining accurate transport records and documentationMonitoring vehicle availability and operational requirementsWorking closely with the wider team to maximise efficiencyHelping to identify and implement improvements across the transport operationProviding support and guidance to the wider transport team
Skills & Experience Required:
Previous experience in a transport planning, coordination or operator roleGood knowledge of transport operations and logisticsStrong organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing prioritiesGood IT skills and experience using transport or logistics software Excellent communication skillsThe confidence to deal with drivers, customers and suppliersStrong problem-solving skills and a calm approach under pressureGood attention to detail and a proactive approachThe ability to work independently and as part of a team
