Senior Assistant Accountant Rotherham | Permanent
Elevation Recruitment Group is working with a growing business in the Rotherham area to recruit a Senior Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the Financial Controller across day-to-day accounts, project costing, cash flow and month-end reporting. It offers a great opportunity for an experienced accounts professional to take ownership of their workload and become a key part of the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Manage purchase ledger and sales ledger activities, including invoice processing, coding and raising sales invoices.Prepare supplier payment runs, reconcile statements and manage credit control.Process expenses and company credit card transactions.Complete bank reconciliations and support cash flow reporting.Prepare journals and assist with month-end reporting and balance sheet reconciliations using Sage 50.Support project costing and work in progress reviews.Prepare VAT returns and monthly CIS returns for review.Process weekly payroll and allocate costs to projects.Liaise with project managers and site teams regarding finance queries.Support improvements to finance processes, controls and reporting. About You
Previous experience in a busy accounts or finance role, ideally covering both purchase and sales ledger.Good working knowledge of Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel.Experience in credit control, reconciliations and month-end processes.Previous experience processing weekly payroll.Good understanding of VAT, with CIS knowledge advantageous.AAT qualified or equivalent practical accounting experience.Strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills. Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing or a project-based business would be beneficial.
