About this role

FII USA, Inc. is seeking a Soldering and Rework Training Specialist to deliver hands-on technical training in soldering, electronic repair, rework, and workmanship standards to manufacturing and repair personnel. Once a part of the team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the Training and Development Department in a manufacturing environment and have the opportunity to display critical thinking skills to expand your career in Smart Manufacturing. The Soldering and Rework Training Specialist will develop and deliver practical training programs, evaluate employee technical proficiency, maintain qualification standards, and collaborate with Engineering and Quality to improve workmanship, reduce defects, and support consistent manufacturing and repair processes. Develop, deliver, and maintain soldering, rework, repair, workmanship, and practical qualification training programs. Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in soldering, desoldering, component removal and replacement, pad and trace repair, connector work, inspection, cleaning, tool use, and other approved rework techniques. Develop lesson plans, demonstrations, practice exercises, sample assemblies, training materials, visual aids, practical evaluation checklists, and scoring criteria aligned with approved procedures and workmanship requirements. Evaluate employee knowledge, soldering techniques, workmanship, process discipline, safety practices, electrostatic discharge (ESD) compliance, and ability to meet established acceptance criteria. Conduct initial qualifications, recertifications, and practical assessments for soldering and rework personnel, providing objective performance feedback and recommending additional training or qualification restrictions when necessary. Develop and deliver targeted remedial training to address workmanship defects, audit findings, customer concerns, recurring repair errors, and changes to tools, materials, or approved processes. Prepare and qualify designated trainers and evaluators to ensure consistent delivery and evaluation of approved soldering and rework training. Review defect trends, repair data, audit findings, and evaluator observations to identify skill gaps and recommend targeted training or process improvements. Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to verify technical training content and escalate incomplete, inconsistent, or unclear work instructions and workmanship requirements before proceeding with training. Support applicable IPC, customer, and internal workmanship training and certification requirements in accordance with approved processes and standards. Maintain the solder-training laboratory, including workbenches, microscopes, fume extraction systems, soldering irons, hot-air systems, preheaters, hand tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), ESD controls, and demonstration equipment. Manage soldering and rework consumables, including solder, flux, wick, components, circuit boards, solvents, and practice materials, ensuring proper identification, storage, shelf-life monitoring, safety, and disposal. Verify that training equipment is maintained, calibrated when required, and suitable for use before training and qualification activities. Maintain accurate training attendance, qualification, assessment, evaluator, equipment, material, and recertification records and submit required documentation for official training records. Support manufacturing launches, repair-program changes, customer visits, internal audits, and external audits involving soldering competency and workmanship qualifications. Promote safe work practices, proper fume extraction, ergonomic practices, ESD compliance, and protection of electronic assemblies during all training and practical evaluation activities. Other duties as assigned.
