Secondary Teaching Assistant - Hastings
6-8 Week Booking Initially | Potential for Extension
We are currently recruiting for a Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a large and successful secondary academy in Hastings on a long-term supply basis, initially for 6-8 weeks, with the potential for the placement to be extended. The school is a mixed secondary academy for students aged 11-16 and is part of a well-regarded multi-academy trust with a strong focus on high expectations, inclusion, and student achievement.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with classroom teachers and pastoral staff to support students across a range of subjects, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment. The role may involve supporting small groups, providing one-to-one assistance, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting students in lessons across the secondary curriculum.Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.Assisting teachers with classroom preparation and behaviour management.Encouraging student engagement, confidence, and independence.Providing additional support to students with SEN where required.Helping to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment. About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with young people, ideally within a school environment.Are confident supporting students aged 11-16.Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Can remain calm, patient, and adaptable.Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential.Has experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Tutor, Cover Supervisor, or similar role.
